french quarter & tremÉ
(the oldest African American neighborhood)
An expansion of our French Quarter tour (see French Quarter walking tour description), Soul of NOLA will take you through the French Quarter and then venture just inside the adjacent Treme neighborhood.
The Tremé neighborhood, an area settled by many Free People of Color, we will begin by discussing its history and then we’ll stop at the oldest African American church in the country. We'll also go into Armstrong Park and Congo Square, talking about its link to music and how New Orleans became the birthplace of jazz. This tour will be tailored to your personal tastes and interests, as are all our excursions.
